Export & Handoff

Download Options

Export transcripts and media outputs in the format your downstream workflow needs.

Scribewave offers a wide variety of export and download options, allowing you to export your transcript exactly in the format that you need. Whether you are looking for a readable text document, a subtitle file for video publishing, or even an entirely edited sequence ready for Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer, you can easily generate the right handoff files for your workflow.

Step 1: Open the download menu

To get started with downloading your file, simply navigate to the top right corner of the editor and click the Download button. This will open the download menu where you will see all the different file formats available to choose from.

Step 2: Choose your output type

Scribewave supports a lot of different download options. Pick the format that best matches your next tool or stakeholder:

  • Document exports (like Word or PDF) for readable review and sharing.
  • Subtitle exports (like SRT or VTT) for publishing captions with your videos.
  • Timeline and editor formats (like Premiere Pro XML or Avid AAF) for seamless post-production handoff.

Step 3: Configure export options

Depending on the output format that you choose, different export options will become available.

For example, if you select a Word document, you will see a variety of specific settings:

  • Include details: You can choose to display time codes, speakers, and highlights. By default, these settings are enabled, but you can easily disable them if you prefer a cleaner look.
  • Layout: You can choose between a standard textual format or a more structured table (tabular) output format. If you aren't sure what to choose, it is recommended to use the table format, as it provides a very clear overview.
  • Styling and Extras: You can optionally specify custom font settings or enable paragraph numbering.
  • AI Prompts: You can even add an AI prompt to your export—for example, to automatically generate and paste a summary at the start of your downloaded transcript.

Step 4: Generate and download

Once your settings are configured correctly, click the Download button at the bottom of the menu. Your file will be generated and downloaded to your computer, ready for you to open, use, or share with others.

Saving your default settings

If you usually want to use the same export settings across different projects, you don't have to manually configure them every single time. You can easily save your preferred configuration as your default settings. Just click the Export settings link located at the top of the download modal, configure your defaults, and save them for future use.
