Transcript Editor

Edit and Navigate

Play through your transcript, make corrections, and move quickly through long recordings.

Although Scribewave offers very accurate transcription results out-of-the-box, some manual editing might be required to improve the readability and accuracy of the transcript. The editor is designed to be a fast and efficient way to make these edits.

Step 1: Play and follow the transcript

Start playback and follow along in the document to spot wording, speaker, or punctuation issues.

The unique feature of our editor is that all words are synchronized with the audio. This means that the editor will scroll to the correct position of the paragraph at the playback time. It also works the other way around: you can dubble click on a word to jump to the correct position in the audio.

Step 2: Correct text directly

Edit words and phrasing inline as you review each section. You can simply click once on a word to edit it inline. The editor works like a normal text editor, with support for all common editing and transcript operations, including:

  • Removing letters and words using backspace and delete keys.
  • Adding words by simply typing them in like you would in any other text editor.
  • Merging paragraphs by pressing backspace in at the beginning of a paragraph, or delete at the end of a paragraph.
  • Splitting paragraphs by pressing enter in the middle of a paragraph.
  • Changing speaker labels by clicking on the speaker name and typing a new name.
  • Reassigning speakers by clicking on the speaker name.

Step 3: Use undo/redo safely

Use top-bar undo and redo controls while iterating on edits. You can also use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+Z (on Windows) or Cmd+Z (on Mac) for undo and Ctrl+Y (on Windows) or Cmd+Y (on Mac) for redo. At any point in time, you can revert to the original transcript by clicking on the "Revert to original" button in the sidebar.

Step 4: Save and return to your project list

All edits are automatically saved. The saving status is displayed in the top-bar, next to the title of the project. When saving is complete, you can easily return to your project list by clicking on the "Back" button in the top-bar.
